STORM Energy constructs in - and in close cooperation with - the city of Fürth
The city of Fürth positioned itself as one of the leading German cities with regard to the use of solar energy and has maintained this role for several years now - thanks to the early commitment to the cause and active engagement on the part of its mayor Dr. Thomas Jung. STORM Energy Ltd. won a tender competition carried out by a charitable foundation in 2009 on account of STORM Energy's high quality standard. STORM Energy is now building photovoltaic systems on two schoolhouse roofs and two municipal open spaces.
Furthermore, the first solar power systems for citizens was constructed by STORM Energy Ltd. in June 2010. The conceptual idea was to give every single citizen the opportunity to become co-owner of a solar plant by investing in shares, starting from a minimum amount of 1,000 euros.
Similar pioneering model projects of solar power systems for citizens have already been successfully implemented in cities like Fürth, Bremen and Freiburg. Those projects ought to serve as role models to be applied on a broad scale in the near future.
On one hand, cities and municipalities set an important example for active environmental and climate protection, and on the other hand, it adds additional revenue to their treasury which is, in the majority of cases, much needed.
